Daily DeviationHaving worked at a racetrack for the first half of my working years I came to respect the power and beauty of these animals. Hippos 6 by ~DrNoPlan is a fantastic capture of a coach race showcasing their strength. (Featured by ^Ghouldaddy)

Thanks

I tell you my Workflow in Adobe Photoshop.

Step one: Developing of the RAW
Step two: Adjusting Levels and Contrast
Step three: Changing to LAB color and adjusting in lightness channel the levels again. Then delete channel a + b, change to mode grayscale first, then RGB again.
Step four: Duplikate the background layer twice, the first layer -> gaussian blur 4% -> layer on hard light -> ca. 30% opacity. The second layer -> filter > other > high pass max. 10% > layer on hard light with max. 25% opacity.

With step four you can play a little bit. ;)
wow. that's a lot of steps. thanks for sharing! i usually just use channel mixer and then adjust curves. i suck at layers... not sure quite how to use them yet. i'm a photoshop newbie. :)
